1.Pick somebody/something out = pick out something/somebody

2.Pick up: 举起，拿起，拾起；开车接…

He drove to the airport to pick up Tom .

他开车去机场接汤姆。

3.Take place : 发生，举行、举办

注意点：不及物动词短语，事件的发生具有计划性，非偶然事件

第二组：

4.Place of interest : 名胜古迹

I visited many places of interest when I was in Beijing.

我在北京时参观了许多名胜。

5.In order to do something: 为了做某事，表示目的

She arrived early in order to get a good seat.

她很早就到了，为了得到一个好位子。

6.Order something for somebody : 为某人订购某物

She ordered a garden chair for her husband.

她为她丈夫订购了一把花园用椅。

第三组：

7.Lie in: 位于某个范围之内：

Guangdong lies in China.

广东在中国。

8.Lie on: 位于（和某地接壤）

Russia lies on the north of China.

俄罗斯在中国以北。

9.Lie to: 位于（两地相隔）

Japan lies to the east of China.

日本在中国以东。

第四组：

10.Practise doing something: 练习做某事

He always practised playing the piano in the morning when he was young.

他年轻时总是在早晨练习弹钢琴。

11.Protect somebody/something from/against something

保护某人某事免受某事的伤害

You need warm clothes to protect you against the cold .

你需要暖和的衣服来御寒。

12.Be reported: 据报道

It is reported that she is still in Beijing .

据报道她仍然在北京。

第五组：

13.Be ready to do something: 准备着某事

I am ready to start work

我准备好开始工作了

14.Get ready for something

Get ready to do something

为…做好做准备

He gets ready for a journey.

他为旅游做好准备了。

15.Leave for : 前往，出发去某地；

When are you leaving for Beijing ?

你什么时候去北京？

第六组：

16.A good/great many: 许多，大量（修饰可数名词复数，不修饰不可数名词）

There are a good/great many books in the library.

图书馆里有许多书。

17.Of one`s own: 属于自己的

He would like a car of his own.

他想要有一辆属于自己的车。

18.(All) on one`s own: 独自

I am all on my own.

今天我是独自一个人。
